The Regeneration Project is Making a Difference

The Regeneration Project staff is trained and certified in the usage of the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Model (CBT), which is a nationally recognized evidence-based model that focuses on changing unhelpful thinking which leads to unwanted behavior.  We seek to work on the outcomes that the consumer desires in the treatment process. When appropriate, we collaborate with the persons identified and consented by the consumer to be involved in the treatment process.  In essence, your desires become our primary focus of treatment.

The Regeneration Project’s Community Mental Health Program provides psychotherapy and psychiatric services to consumers with a wide array of mental health challenges. Consumers are treated in individual, group, or family therapy, or a combination of those modalities. Group therapies are an excellent treatment modality for individuals with depression, anxiety, certain phobias, and other mental health issues.

Specialty group therapies have been proven to be one of the most effective treatment modalities. The Regeneration Project offers a plethora of therapeutic groups each month covering a wide range of treatment concerns.

Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy – The Regeneration Project Therapist are skilled at working with consumers who are normally resistant to traditional therapy.  Our therapy sessions take place in the home and community settings where our clients are most comfortable thereby, enhancing the likelihood of their full participation.   Therapeutic rapport (relationship) between the consumer and the therapist are an essential component to effective treatment.  Once the consumer has developed a level of trust with the therapist, real work can occur.  Sessions typically occur once per month but depending on the severity of the problem(s) could be once per week.

Family Therapy

Family Therapy is a very important component of treatment at The Regeneration Project. In this role, we seek to facilitate communication within the family so that routine and critical issues might be resolved in a healthy manner.  Family therapy has been shown to effectively treat problems such as:

  • Drug abuse
  • Depression
  • Alcoholism
  • Obesity

Sessions typically occur once per month but  depending on the severity of the issue(s) could occur on a bi-weekly basis

Group Therapy

Group Therapy – The Regeneration Project therapist will facilitate a small group of consumers who have similar issues.  A controlled environment amongst peers can be very effective in helping consumers understand that they are not alone with regard to whatever issue(s) they are struggling with.

Benefits of Group Therapy:

  • Groups provide a safety net for support and knowledge that they are not alone. Hearing from others with similar issues helps consumers understand that they are not alone in having challenges such as panic attacks, depression, or other mental health issues.
  • Groups provide a Magic Mirror and Reflection. Consumers have opportunities to discuss their issues in a group and receive feedback from persons experiencing similar issues. This process affords the consumer sharing his or her concerns to hear how non-related parties might respond or address the concern. Learning how others might handle similar situations can be very helpful and promote growth.
  • Groups are encouraging forces toward growth. The team approach builds confidence and courage to address issues that serve as obstacles. Learning how other consumers deal with and overcome issues provide a source of strength to attack issues that often seem insurmountable.
  • Groups promote unity and cooperativeness for social skills. The Group process sets in motion the principle of commonality. Commonality in a structured group setting breaks down the walls of uncertainty of how persons believe they will be received. This process promotes more comfort amongst the group participants, thereby enhancing the interaction and opportunity to grow socially.
